During his working visit to Kenya, the First Vice Speaker Oleksandr Korniienko met with the Minister of Defence of Kenya Aden Duale

The parties discussed the current situation in Ukraine, in particular on the battlefield, and cooperation in the military context. The meeting was also attended by Lieutenant General Jonah Mwangi, who represented the country during Ramstein in April 2022.

“It is important that Kenya is one of the four African countries that have joined the defence contact group with Ukraine,” said Oleksandr Korniienko, the First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

At the same time, he noted that in order to defend its freedom, Ukraine needs a constant supply of military equipment and ammunition. “There are always needs. We appreciate any help at this time, which is one of the main factors for a just victory and peace,” said Oleksandr Kornienko.

The First Vice Speaker also emphasised the readiness to intensify military-technical cooperation between Ukraine and Kenya. “Taking into account the unique combat experience of Ukrainian soldiers against the russian army, military exercises and exchange of experience could be potential areas of cooperation between our countries,” he added.

The parties also discussed cooperation in the field of drones and their technologies. 

For reference. On 30-31 October, the First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Korniienko is on a working visit to the Republic of Kenya.

The programme of the visit includes a number of bilateral meetings between the First Vice Speaker Oleksandr Korniienko and Kenyan politicians and parliamentarians.

The delegation also includes Olha Rudenko, a member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Foreign Policy and Interparliamentary Cooperation.
