Volodymyr Lytvyn, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine deems the Chernigiv Region should be announced Ecological Calamity Area

V. Lytvyn declared it on Monday during the conversation with Novyi Bilous village citizens.

 

According to V. Lytvyn due to the statistics data in Chernihiv region on 630 hectare of land there are 26 firing grounds for the waste storage and 739 areas for the waste products storage. Each it adds 500b tones of garbage and wastes.

 

"I am here today in order to show whole Ukraine how we live and are we to continue such a way of living, speaking about Ukraine as the European country", - the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine announced.

 

V. Lytvyn declared that he has pointed out the attention on the problem of waste recycling plants. In particular, V. Lytvyn reminded that in the current year in the Parliament under his chairmanship the meeting of the leaders of the local self-governing bodies with the participation of the Swedish companies´ representatives was held, during which the possible projects on the energy preserving and recycling enterprises were discussed.

 

According to him, the main problem here "is that one is not willing to allot the area for the enterprises building or we face the bureaucratic obstacles".

 

V. Lytvyn informed that he gave order to elaborate the amendments to the legislation concerning the increase of the penalties for the unauthorized formation of waste depots and garbage throwing.

 

As it was informed previously, on Monday V. Lytvyn would stay with the working visit Chernihiv region.
