Mykola Tomenko: The Problem of Graduation-2012 should be solved as soon as possible

"We should find solution as soon as possible regarding the situation we have with the Graduation-2012", - Mykola Tomenko, the Vice-Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine declared opening the round table discussion "The Problem of Graduation-2012 within the Scope of Implementation of the 12-year Comprehensive Secondary Education in Ukraine", that is held today in the Parliament.

M. Tomenko proposed the participants to discuss number of the problems regarding the implementation of the twelve-years-school conception. In particular he informed that there is a real danger of university qualifying examinations campaign loss as due to the facts supplied by the Ministry on Science and Education of Ukraine in year 2012 there will be no school-leavers.

Still according to M. Tomenko, there is three solutions within the situation. "The first one is revolutionary one discuss pro and cones of the 12 year system and ponder over the possibility of returning to the 10 year system. The second way is evolutionary one suspend the implementation of the 12 year system and stop on the 11 year system and meanwhile elaborate the qualitative transfer. And the third one, I would call it present day one, envisages the continuance of the 12 year system that presupposes the elaboration of certain ways to provide at least some quantity of school-leavers during the year 2012 ", - the vice-Chairman declared.

M. Tomenko has emphasized that the situation that Ukraine is going to face in a year 2012 is only one of dozens of problem caused by the 12 year system transference.
