The parties discussed Ukraine’s implementation of seven recommendations of the European Commission.
First of all, the Speaker of the Parliament of Ukraine thanked for the clear guidelines provided by the European Commission, which help Ukraine to define the coordinate system on its way to joining the European Union.
“The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine is doing the most comprehensive and thorough work to ensure a positive assessment by the European Commission,” said Ruslan Stefanchuk.
In addition, he informed that the Parliament of Ukraine has adopted all legislative changes related to the appointment of judges of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine, as well as the Law on the restoration of electronic declaration.
Ruslan Stefanchuk emphasised that the Law on Amendments to the Law of Ukraine on National Minorities was adopted in line with this year’s recommendations of the Venice Commission. The Laws on Improving the Activities of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine and on Financing and Control of Political Parties were also adopted.
At the same time, in the first reading, the MPs of Ukraine adopted a draft law on restoring the risk-oriented approach to PEPs, and the relevant Committee is working on a draft law to strengthen the autonomy and organisational independence of the Specialised Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAP).
“Ukraine expects that Ukraine’s progress will be recognised and we will start accession negotiations by the end of this year,” said Ruslan Stefanchuk, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
