The parties discussed the implementation of the Peace Formula of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Ukraine's Euro-Atlantic path, as well as issues of interparliamentary cooperation.
First of all, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine expressed gratitude to Iceland for the financial and defense support of Ukraine and readiness to continue it in the form of financial contributions to the relevant funds. "Defense support is our top priority," Ruslan Stefanchuk emphasized, thanking Iceland for its participation in the purchase of fuel tankers for immediate shipment to Ukraine.
In addition, he expressed confidence that Iceland would take an active part in the implementation of certain points of the Peace Formula of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The Speaker of the Parliament of Ukraine thanked Iceland for supporting Ukraine's path to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. "During next year's Washington Summit, we expect to receive an invitation to join the Alliance and a clear understanding of the timeline for membership," he said.
In conclusion, Ruslan Stefanchuk noted that Ukraine highly appreciates this year's decisions of the Icelandic Parliament on priority issues for Ukraine, such as the recognition of the Holodomor of 1932-1933 as genocide and the condemnation of the illegal deportation of Ukrainian children.
