Following the G7 Parliamentary Summit, a declaration in support of Ukraine was adopted

During his working visit to Japan, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine took part in the G7 Parliamentary Summit, following which the leaders of the G7 legislative bodies adopted a declaration in support of Ukraine.
The Speaker of the Parliament of Ukraine, Ruslan Stefanchuk, expressed his gratitude for the adoption of the declaration in solidarity with the Ukrainian people.
First of all, the signatories of the declaration once again condemned in the strongest terms russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine and stressed the importance of investigating the crimes committed and punishing the perpetrators.
The G7 parliamentary leaders called on russia to immediately, fully and unconditionally withdraw its forces and military equipment from all internationally recognised territory of Ukraine.
They expressed their unwavering solidarity with the Ukrainian people and supported their governments’ initiatives to strengthen far-reaching sanctions against russia and belarus.
At the same time, the declaration condemned the withdrawal of the russian federation from the Black Sea Grain Initiative and called on it to rejoin the initiative by ensuring the export of Ukrainian grain from Black Sea ports.
The signatories also condemned russia’s irresponsible nuclear rhetoric and its announcement of its intention to deploy nuclear weapons in belarus, calling for the return of the Zaporizhzhia NPP to the competent authorities of Ukraine.
The global energy crisis caused by russia’s invasion of Ukraine and the use of energy as a weapon, the declaration says, has highlighted the importance for many countries of restructuring their energy security strategies.
The document concludes by noting that the signatories are clearly aware of the need to further strengthen cooperation and solidarity with like-minded partners in order to maintain and strengthen a free and open international order based on the rule of law.
