Oleksandr Korniienko: One of the ways of interaction between the state, society and Public Broadcasting is the issue of information policy after de-occupation

Oleksandr Korniienko, the First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, took part in the conference “Public Broadcasting: Reform in Time of War”.
“The media space is changing, and one of the tasks is to improve and meet current needs,” Oleksandr Korniienko said, adding that it is important to respond to trends and follow them.
For example, he said, people now consume most of their information on social media – “this is also a matter for reflection”. “The world is moving forward, the media market is not standing still, and it has transformed in Ukraine,” said the First Vice Speaker.
At the same time, Oleksandr Korniienko noted that the public broadcaster should also move towards developing its product and content and move away from non-core activities: “I personally watch certain products of UA:PBC and consider them not only competitive but also unique, in particular, music projects.”
“A separate issue is how the media should work in the liberated territories. Almost ten years of occupation of Crimea and the East of Ukraine require significant steps after it,” the First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine emphasised.
He stressed that one of the ways of interaction between the state, society and UA:PBC is the issue of information policy after de-occupation.
“There are many topics left to discuss and think about, but think in the context of improving the media product,” Oleksandr Korniienko concluded.
The conference was also attended by Ukrainian MPs: the Chairman of the Committee on Humanitarian and Information Policy Mykyta Poturaiev, the Chairman of the Committee on Budget Roksolana Pidlasa, the Deputy Chairman of the Committee, Chairman of the Subcommittee on Information Policy and European Integration of the Committee on Humanitarian and Information Policy Yevheniia Kravchuk and the Chairman of the Subcommittee on Culture of the Committee on Humanitarian and Information Policy Mykola Kniazhytskyi.
