Oleksandr Korniienko, the First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, took part in an online meeting of the thematic working group to discuss the draft State Targeted National and Cultural Programme “Unity in Diversity” for the period up to 2034.
The topic of the working group, which met on Monday, 28 August, was ensuring the educational rights of persons belonging to national minorities (communities) and indigenous peoples of Ukraine.
“Education issues are very important for representatives of national communities. The relevant dialogue has been taking place for several days and even months, and I would like to continue it, in particular, to find solutions to all the challenges that arise on the way in an inclusive manner,” the First Vice Speaker said.
At the same time, he stressed that the topic of national communities is also important for Ukraine’s further European integration: “The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine is moving dynamically enough to implement state policies in the field of development, protection, support and guarantee of all rights for them.”
In conclusion, the First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine noted that it is necessary to seek consensus and understanding together: “And within the framework of a series of meetings, we should do everything to make this state programme as effective as possible.”
