“We must create all the conditions and opportunities for the decent integration of veterans into various spheres of life – without waiting for the end of the war, but acting now,” said the First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Korniienko, following the results of the VI International Veterans Forum “Ukraine. Defenders. Future”.
“We objectively assess the level of accessibility for everyone, including people with disabilities and low-mobility groups, throughout Ukraine – it is currently low,” said the First Vice Speaker, adding that this is a very important component that needs to be changed towards positive progress now: “Cities should also pay special attention to this.”
At the same time, Oleksandr Korniienko expressed confidence that veterans will be in politics. “In 2014 and 2019, during the early parliamentary elections, they were represented in several political forces and proved to be quite active in their work – in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the executive branch and the Government of Ukraine,” he said.
In addition, the First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine stressed that this direction will only intensify: “Veterans will be an active part of the society, and therefore – of politics.”
“The policy of heroes is designed to help our people live – those who defend, fight and stand for our common values, Ukraine and its successful future. Our task is to do everything possible for our soldiers upon their return,” Oleksandr Korniienko concluded.
