The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk held a videoconference with the President of the National Assembly of France Yael Braun-Pivet.
“Ukraine’s strategic goal is NATO membership. A clear signal from the Allies on the timeline for Ukraine’s future accession to NATO is what Ukraine wants to hear during the NATO Summit in Vilnius,” Ruslan Stefanchuk said first of all.
He noted that Ukraine is counting on France’s political support for Ukraine’s application for accelerated accession to the Alliance during the Summit.
“It is also important for us to start negotiations on accession to the European Union at the end of this year,” Ruslan Stefanchuk emphasised.
The parties also discussed defence support for Ukraine. The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine noted that Ukraine greatly appreciates France’s leadership in this matter.
In conclusion, Ruslan Stefanchuk thanked France for its unprecedented military, technical, financial and humanitarian assistance: “Ukraine appreciates and is grateful to our partners for their support, which brings our common Victory closer.”
