“This is not only an opinion, but also a feeling that was formed during the 16th Conference of the Presidents of the Parliaments of Small European States. And this can be seen in a practical example – in the end, the Declaration was adopted, which also refers to Ukraine, in particular, support and solidarity,” said the First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Korniienko.
In particular, the participants strongly condemn the violations of international humanitarian law committed by russia and welcome the investigation by the International Criminal Court into possible war crimes and crimes against humanity, as well as any violations of international law in the world without exception or double standards.
In addition, the document reaffirms the Conference’s readiness to use all parliamentary means to facilitate a peaceful end to russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, and reaffirms its determination to firmly anchor Ukraine in a democratic Europe whose values and principles it defends.
“The participants understand that the Ukrainian people have faced many challenges. And they are ready to walk this path together with us – to victory,” said Oleksandr Korniienko.
In addition, he noted that he had heard a lot of important messages, in particular, that if russia was not afraid to attack a country of a fairly large size, what would it do to Small European countries: “And the representatives of the countries tell each other that it is necessary to continue and strengthen support for Ukraine with resolutions and generally necessary things.”
“Support to win. To stop the aggressor, to ensure peace on fair terms, to stop the bloodshed and to curb the ambitions of the russian dictator,” the First Vice Speaker stressed, adding that yesterday, today and tomorrow we are all building the world we want to live in and the world we want our children to see – without war, with security and justice.
In conclusion, he expressed his gratitude for the position and readiness to achieve a common goal – victory.
