The First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Korniienko took part in the Forum of the Future.
First of all, the First Vice Speaker stressed that despite the heavy bloody war waged against us by russia, we are defending our land, but of course, “we also think and talk about the future”.
He also stressed that one of putin’s goals is to make sure that Ukraine has no future.
“Opinion leaders, philosophers, visionaries and various cultural figures have gathered to discuss the vision of the future, in different directions – the vision of politics, culture and economy,” said Oleksandr Korniienko.
In addition, he noted that when talking about the future of Ukrainian politics, we must take into account Ukraine’s progress towards the European Union. That is why Ukrainian politics should be professionalised and brought closer to European standards.
“We have to work on the reform of public sector salaries, on the reform of political parties,” said the First Vice Speaker, adding that even now, during the war, we need to prepare the ground for post-war reforms to take place faster and less painfully for people.
During the Forum, Oleksandr Korniienko also raised the question of how to ensure that all political interests are represented after the war: how to involve people in politics, how to ensure inclusion so that every citizen has participation and involvement in making certain political decisions.
For reference. The Forum of the Future is a civil society initiative aimed at finding and discussing optimal models for the development and transformation of Ukraine in both the short and long term.
The event was organised by the Centre for Political Values.
