The Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Olena Kondratiuk met with Ambassador of the State of Israel to Ukraine Michael Brodsky.
The working meeting was held in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine following the official visit of the Vice Speaker to the State of Israel.
“We are grateful to Israel for the humanitarian assistance provided to the victims of the russian federation’s explosion of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station in Kherson region. In connection with the Kakhovka disaster and the missile attacks on civilians, residential buildings and infrastructure in Kryvyi Rih and Odesa, we look forward to a clearer position of Israel on such actions of the russian terrorist state,” said Olena Kondratiuk during the meeting.
In this context, the parties discussed the acceleration of testing and full deployment of the Israeli early warning system for missile attacks in Ukraine. According to the Ambassador Michael Brodsky, Israel has made a political and financial decision to provide such a system. The technical process of setting up the system is currently underway, with Israeli and Ukrainian experts actively involved. The system is expected to become operational in September this year.
The Deputy Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine also recalled the issues of bilateral cooperation raised during her visit to Israel.
“We are grateful to Israel for voting in favour of the UN resolutions in support of Ukraine. At the same time, we hope that the Knesset will adopt a statement on the illegal deportation of Ukrainian children and the need for their return home – to Ukraine, to their families and guardians. We also insist on the need for the State of Israel to recognise the so-called russian pmc wagner as a terrorist organisation,” emphasised Olena Kondratiuk.
The meeting participants also discussed the need to increase the volume and types of humanitarian aid to Ukraine. In particular, they discussed the admission for treatment, prosthetics and rehabilitation of twenty seriously wounded Ukrainian soldiers, psychological assistance programmes for victims of russian aggression and rehabilitation of Ukrainian children in Israel.
“Together with the Ambassador, we also see a significant unrealised potential for the development and strengthening of Ukrainian-Israeli relations in the interaction of the twin cities of both countries. Especially, in terms of children’s health improvement and implementation of humanitarian initiatives,” summed up the Vice Speaker Olena Kondratiuk.
