The First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Korniienko held a working meeting with the delegation of the Arizona Defence Industry Coalition (AZDIC) led by its President Lynndy Smith and Representative of the Arizona State Legislature David Cook.

At the beginning of the meeting, the First Vice-Speaker informed his American colleagues about the situation at the Kakhovka HPP.

"russia has created the largest man-made disaster in recent decades — the ecocide of the 21st century. The terrorist state is killing everyone and everything. Thousands of flooded houses, tens of thousands of people forced to evacuate and leave their homes," said Oleksandr Korniienko.

In particular, he emphasised that Zaporizhzhya NPP is also in danger: "Problems with reactor cooling can cause another catastrophe."

At the same time, the First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine noted that the restoration of the blown-up dam could take years and require huge resources, including financial ones.

He also raised the issue of the importance of countering russian propaganda — the lies that russia uses to justify its crimes.

During the meeting, the participants also discussed Ukraine's European integration track, the steps taken on this path, and expectations for the opening of negotiations this year.

Finally, the Ukrainian side handed over the wreckage of a hypersonic dagger shot down by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

"The Ukrainian brave spirit and the assistance of international partners made it possible to do what was said to be "impossible", said Oleksandr Kornienko, expressing his gratitude for the substantive dialogue in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. "We must work for global security and stop the crazy enemy who continues to follow his terrorist ideas.

The meeting was also attended by members of the Ukrainian Parliament — the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defence and Intelligence Oleksandr Zavitnevych and the member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Ukraine's Integration into the European Union Dmytro Liubota.
