During his official visit to the Republic of Poland, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk met with the Marshal of the Senate of Poland Tomasz Grodzki.
First of all, the Speaker of the Parliament of Ukraine expressed gratitude to the Senate of Poland for its comprehensive support of Ukraine, especially for the latest decision – the resolution on Ukraine’s membership in NATO, as well as the resolution on recognising the authorities of the russian federation as a terrorist regime and condemning the illegal deportation of Ukrainian children to russia. “Each of these decisions is a step of political solidarity with Ukraine,” he stressed.
At the same time, Ruslan Stefanchuk thanked Poland for its military support: “Poland has become a military hub for Ukraine, our rear and an important element of our future victory.”
“The Parliament has fulfilled all seven recommendations of the European Commission – we hope to receive a positive assessment of our aspirations and open negotiations on full membership in the European Union by the end of this year,” the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine said.
In addition, Ruslan Stefanchuk welcomed the joint initiative with the European Commission to search for Ukrainian children abducted and forcibly taken to russia: “It is extremely important for us to bring Ukrainian children home.”
The parties also raised the issue of bringing russia to justice and imposing sanctions against it. “The priorities of the 11th package are, in particular, the introduction of sanctions in the nuclear energy sector and the prohibition of double imports,” said Ruslan Stefanchuk. “We need such sanctions that would not allow them to be circumvented, and most importantly, they should make it impossible to continue this war,” he added.
“After our joint victory, putin must receive a cheque for this war,” the Speaker of the Parliament of Ukraine stressed: “Now we all have to think together about the legal mechanism of issues related to the freezing and confiscation of russian assets around the world.”
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Ruslan Stefanchuk, also invited Tomasz Grodzki to participate in the Second Parliamentary Summit of the International Crimean Platform to be held on 24 October in Prague.
“This is a meeting of friends,” Tomasz Grodzki said during a conversation with the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. He also noted that sanctions against the russian federation should be severe, russian property should be confiscated, and russian criminals should be punished.
“The Senate is as much as possible on the side of the primary victory over the enemy. We are working towards victory,” said the Marshal of the Senate of the Republic of Poland.
