The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine visited the National Archives of Sweden, where he got acquainted with the original Constitution of Pylyp Orlyk

In the framework of his official visit to the Kingdom of Sweden, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine visited the National Archives of Sweden and met with Director General Karin Astrom Iko.

During the meeting, the Speaker of the Parliament of Ukraine had the opportunity to get acquainted with the original Latin-language Constitution of Pylyp Orlyk of 1710.

“It is a historic moment and a unique opportunity not only to see but also to touch the First Ukrainian Constitution,” said Ruslan Stefanchuk, adding that this document is already 313 years old.

In addition, he stressed that the Bendery Constitution, signed in the city of Bendery, was the foundation of development for many states at that time.

Finally, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine thanked for the preservation of important historical documents and active work on their research.
