The Vice Speaker Olena Kondratiuk: Iceland supports the creation of an international Register of damages caused to Ukraine by russian aggression

The Deputy Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Olena Kondratiuk met with the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Iceland Thordis Kolbrun Reykfjord Gylfadottir.

During the meeting, which was also attended by the MP Mariia Ionova, preparations for the Council of Europe Summit in Reykjavik on May 16-17 were discussed.

The summit is being prepared as part of Iceland’s chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe. Ukraine will be its central topic.

“The fact that this is the 4th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the 46 member states of the organization since its establishment in 1949 adds extraordinary importance to this event,” said Olena Kondratiuk.

According to the Vice-Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament, Iceland is committed to supporting all points of Ukraine’s peace plan. Especially, real steps to overcome the consequences of ecocide and cooperation in alternative energy – thermal and green.

“Iceland also supports the creation of an international register of damages caused to Ukraine by russian aggression under the auspices of the Council of Europe and the allocation of frozen russian assets to rebuild our country,” emphasized Olena Kondratiuk following the meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iceland.

At the same time, Thordis Kolbrun Reykfjord Gylfadottir emphasized that she is a sincere advocate of Ukraine and is confident in our victory. According to her, Iceland, along with the Baltic states, also supports Ukraine’s accession to NATO.

“Thank you for your solidarity and women’s leadership in supporting Ukraine!” said the Vice Speaker Olena Kondratiuk.
