During the meeting of the Committee, it was announced that the Supplementary Protocol to the Geneva Conventions introduces the distinctive additional emblem Red Crystal to be used by the International Movement of Red Cross and Red Crescent that shall be distinguished among the distinctive emblems of the Geneva Conventions and shall be added with the same aims.
In particular, the Supplementary Protocol contains a model of the distinctive emblem, fixes "the order of its upkeep, provides for the implementation of any circumstances of use and envisages the measures aimed at the prevention and cessation of emblem use abuse".
Moreover, the Supplementary Protocol determines cases of distinctive emblem use, implements the order of ratification and procedure of protocol´s coming into force.
The corresponding Bill is registered with Reg. No. 0132.
The Committee recommends that the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopts the bill on amendments to certain legal acts of Ukraine (regarding symbolics) (Reg. No. 4665) that envisages the conduction of the national system of laws in correspondence with the principles of the Supplementary Protocol to the Geneva Conventions of 12 August 1949.
In particular, the members of the Committee emphasized that the bill introduced amendments to the law "On the Red Cross and Red Crescent Symbolics in Ukraine" regarding the status and the use of the Red Crystal emblem in Ukraine. The Bill also introduces the amendments to the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
