Mykola Tomenko: The Authorities, Experts and the Public should have a Common Position regarding the Law on the Russian Federation Army Employment Abroad
The Vice-Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine deems that Ukrainian authorities, experts and public should have a common position regarding the Law on Russian Federation Army employment beyond the borders of Russia. It was declared today to the reporter of UNIAN.
He expressed surprise concerning the position of the former ministers of defense of Ukraine who commented upon the adoption the amendments to the law on defense by the State Duma of the Russian Federation. According to the Vice-Chairman, it testifies of the fact that the ministers actively support the defensive capacity of Russia, but not Ukraine.
He mentioned that he was preoccupied with the menace to the national interests and defensive capacity of Ukraine due to the adoption of the Law on Russian Federation Army Employment Abroad at the first reading.
"It is odd that Russia has lately been actively criticizing the interference of USA into the life on the territories of other countries", - he stated.
According to the Vice-Chairman, the position of Ukraine should be as follows: none of the countries has the right to ignore the international law and employ army in preventive measures.
"Do these norms not concern Ukraine that has the Black Sea fleet of the Russian Federation at its territory", - M. Tomenko asks.
According to him, the adoption of corresponding amendments to the Russian law should be a determining factor for all the branches of authority, experts and public to defend the national interests of Ukraine.
"I would recommend that the Russian authorities would better be occupied with the protection of Russian citizens living at the territory of the Russian Federation, as it is obvious that citizens living at the territory of Ukraine feel better in our country, than in the Russian Federation", - the Vice-Chairman declared.
