The Draft Resolution (Reg.№5083) envisages holding of the Parliamentary Hearings on 14 October 2009.
During the discussion, the members of the Committee declared that during the period of independence, the Parliament had held the parliamentary hearing on the topical problems of mass media activity for five times. However, not all the recommendations adopted as a result of the hearings were implemented.
According to the parliamentarians, "public and state mass media are the most problematic". They deem that "the state and public mass media are used by the local authorities as an efficient instrument during the election campaigns".
According to the members of the Committee, the holding of the parliamentary hearings will facilitate the formation of political-legal, economic, organizational and technical grounds for the formation of the modern state policy model in the sphere of mass media and adoption of the European standards of the freedom of speech.
