The First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Korniienko held a working meeting with Norwegian MP, Chairman of the Committee on Rules and Constitutional Protection of the Storting of Norway Peter Frolich.

First of all, Oleksandr Korniienko thanked for Norway’s crucial support and assistance. The parties also discussed important steps towards victory and the current situation in Ukraine.

“I thank Mr. Frolich and the members of the Norwegian public association Fritt Ukraina for their effective assistance providing our country with humanitarian aid and purchasing drones,” the First Vice Speaker emphasized.

In addition, Oleksandr Korniienko informed his Norwegian colleagues about russian attacks on Ukrainian cities and their consequences: “We continue to defend ourselves against the invaders. To do this, we need to strengthen our defense support, in particular, the provision of combat aircraft – military assistance remains a priority.”

The First Deputy Chairman of the Parliament of Ukraine expressed hope for Norway’s continued unwavering support of Ukraine’s Euro-Atlantic integration for security guarantees. He noted that the Vilnius Summit could be crucial for both Ukraine and the entire Euro-Atlantic community: “We encourage our partners to use the opportunity of the Summit to formulate a common vision of the Alliance on the specifics of Ukraine’s accession.”

“A separate issue is russia’s responsibility for the Holodomor and genocide of the Ukrainian people in this war. The perpetrators must be punished – everyone in the world must understand that crimes will not go unpunished,” the First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Korniienko emphasized.

After the meeting with the First Deputy Speaker, Norwegian MP Peter Frolich left for eastern Ukraine.

The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence Yehor Chernev.
