The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Ruslan Stefanchuk, met with the President of the Czech Republic, Petr Pavel, in the framework of the Conference of the Presidents of the EU Parliaments.

On behalf of the Ukrainian people and the Parliament, Ruslan Stefanchuk thanked the President, the Czech Republic, the Parliament, and the great Czech people for the steady and powerful support that Ukraine has been experiencing since the first day of the full-scale war.

During the meeting, the interlocutors discussed the strategic challenges Ukraine is currently facing. They focused, in particular, on military support for Ukraine. Ruslan Stefanchuk called on the President of the Czech Republic to become the main ambassador of Ukraine in this matter, because, as a professional military man, Petr Pavel knows exactly what and how best to help our Armed Forces today.

The Chairman of the Ukrainian Parliament also focused on the issues of Ukraine’s Euro-Atlantic and European integration path, stressing that “Ukraine is now doing everything possible not only to win on the battlefield, but above all to become an honest and worthy member of both the EU and the Alliance”.

In addition, Ruslan Stefanchuk asked the President of the Czech Republic to support the peace formula of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi and to take patronage of one of its points.

The interlocutors also touched upon the issue of establishing justice, which, according to the Chairman of the Parliament of Ukraine, includes our victory on the battlefield, bringing russia to justice and compensation for all the damage caused.

“The Czech Republic stands by Ukraine at all these stages. Czech friends will always be with Ukrainians. In the most difficult times, you have done something incredible. And we will never forget it,” the Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament stressed and once again invited Mr.President to pay an official visit to Ukraine, which would be “an important act of solidarity with Ukraine by the Czech people and the Czech Republic as a whole”.

During the conversation, the President Petr Pavel stressed that he greatly appreciated and respected such a high appreciation of the assistance to our country from his country and the Czech people, who could not have acted otherwise, and expressed confidence in the strengthening and consolidation of friendship between our peoples after the war.

“Our cooperation has been so intense lately that there is no need to have long conversations. I am very proud that the Czech society belongs to the group of countries that have been helping Ukraine since the beginning of the aggressive war,” the President of the Czech Republic said.

He also assured his Ukrainian counterpart that the Czech Republic fully supports Ukraine’s progress in the EU and NATO.

“With regard to Ukraine’s membership in the EU and NATO, it is not a question of “if” for us, it is a question of “when”. You will continue to have our support, and I will personally do everything in my power to continue our successful cooperation on Ukraine’s accession to the EU and NATO,” Petr Pavel said.

He also added that NATO and the EU are a zone of cooperation, partnership, stability and peace. And the Czech Republic wants this “zone to be as large as possible and for Ukraine to be a part of it”.

“That is why we will continue to support Ukraine militarily and look forward to opportunities for cooperation after the war, not only at the level of the Parliament and the Government, but also at the level of individual ministries. And this is also a guarantee that negotiations on Ukraine’s accession to the EU will be more successful,” the Czech President assured his Ukrainian counterpart.
