Volodymyr Lytvyn: Cooperation with the Euronews News Service will open Ukraine not only to the World, but also to the Ukrainians
On Thursday, Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, met Philippe Cayla, Chief Executive Officer of the European News Channel EuroNews, on the eve of signing the Agreement between the National Television Broadcasting Company of Ukraine and the Euronews News Service on the launch of the Ukrainian brief version of Euronews.
The Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine stressed the significance of Ukraine in the global information dimension and stated that cooperation with such an unbiased news agency as Euronews would give an opportunity "to open Ukraine not only to the world, but also to the Ukrainians".
V.Lytvyn believes that "involvement of our citizens in the information is of vital importance not only in view of the political campaign, but also of the fact that the world becomes more connected, and one can feel its rhythm and life owing to the Euronews".
V.Lytvyn stated that it was necessary to appraise the life of Ukraine in the estimation of its citizens. "Ukraine must be interesting and demonstrate active development, as its potential is enormous", - he stated.
V.Lytvyn believes that under the conditions of cosmic and supercosmic speeds, people should obtain the information of utter use.
Philippe Cayla informed about the possibility of establishing a press point in France that would constitute of 30 experts from Ukraine. It will render a possibility to disseminate news from Ukraine on 24/7 basis. He also stressed that the project should be funded at the expense of the National Television Broadcasting Company of Ukraine.
The Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine commented upon the unbiased nature of Euronews in contrast to Ukrainian mass media. He dwelled upon the situation, when a person obtained three different versions of the truth at the Ukrainian television.
Philippe Cayla supported the stand of the Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine concerning the necessity of positive news at the television channels. He also suggested creating a series of programs about Ukraine, with the emphasis on its ancient culture and history.
V.Lytvyn stated that it would enhance the image of Ukraine in the world and promised his support in the cooperation with Euronews News Agency.
