The ceremony was attended, in particular, by the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk, the First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Korniienko, the Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Olena Kondratiuk, representatives of foreign parliamentary delegations.
The laying of the wreath took place at the Wall of Remembrance of the Fallen for Ukraine next to St. Michael’s Cathedral in downtown Kyiv.
Participants of the event placed a basket of blue and yellow flowers near the Wall and lit memorial lamps in honor of the fallen.
“Today is the anniversary of the invincibility of Ukraine. February is usually the shortest month of the year, but for Ukrainians, February 22nd has become one of the longest months of their lives. But Ukraine will definitely survive, because we remain united and move together to victory,” said the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
He also called on all those present to remember the cost of Ukraine’s freedom and independence, for which our stalwart defenders lay down their lives and health.
“I would like to thank our Armed Forces, all those who are on the front line and are bringing the victory closer. The heroism, heroism and courage of our defenders will always be in our history. Eternal honor, eternal glory to each and every one who gave their lives in the struggle for freedom, independence and the future of Ukraine,” Ruslan Stefanchuk emphasized.
