The Committee on Environmental Policy, Use of Natural Resources and Elimination of Consequences of Chornobyl Disaster does not uphold the Bill on the Fuel Tax to be collected from the Owners of Transport Vehicles and other Self-Propelled Machines and Mechanisms

The Bill (Reg.№4074) envisages the imposition of fuel tax on the owners of motor vehicles and other cars and mechanisms from each fuel liter purchased on the refuelling station and oil products stations.

 

During the discussion, the People´s Deputies expressed remarks and propositions to the bill. In particular, the members of the Committee believe that the proposition concerning the preserving of the tax imposed on the owners of the transport vehicles and other motor cars and mechanisms during the first registration of the transport vehicles and other motor cars and mechanisms is controversial. The owners of transport vehicles and other motor cars and mechanisms shall actually pay the same tax twice: during the registration and in the course of the year from each purchased fuel liter.

 

Moreover, in accordance with the Constitution of Ukraine and certain other laws, the members of the Committee insist on the supplementation of the bill by the norm envisaging privileges for the tax payment for the groups entitled to special benefits and in particular for the victims of Chornobyl disaster

 

The resolution of the Committee was forwarded to the Committee on Taxation and Customs Policy.
