Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, states that Dissolution of the Parliament is Impossible

At the Tuesday´s briefing, V.Lytvyn stated that he suggested that the Parliament members adopted a resolution on voluntary dissolution, although "this was illegitimate". "However, is the non-activity of The Verkhovna Rada legitimate?", - he asked.

According to the Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, if the Deputies are not willing to work, they can submit corresponding appeals, the Parliament will become incapacitated and the issue concerning extraordinary elections will arise. "However, another problem emerges, as the President of Ukraine is authorized to dissolve The Verkhovna Rada sixth months before the termination of his authorities", - he stated.

"It is necessary to look for other legal solutions, and I have filed numerous open appeals and suggested: if we are not capable, have no will and wish, let us amend the Law on elections and hold the elections, - stated V.Lytvyn. However, this will be a political resolution. The political way out must be based on a legal ground".
