The First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Korniienko met with the NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg during a working visit to Brussels, Belgium.

Oleksandr Korniienko presented the NATO Secretary General with the Certificate of Appreciation from the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for his significant personal contribution to strengthening Ukraine’s international prestige and active efforts to provide effective assistance to Ukraine in the face of russian armed aggression.

“I had the honor to thank the NATO Secretary General on behalf of Ukraine. We are grateful for the support felt by the entire Ukrainian people,” the First Vice Speaker emphasized.

For his part, Jens Stoltenberg noted that NATO has been supporting Ukraine since it regained its independence: “The Alliance is more active than ever since russia launched a full-scale aggressive war almost a year ago.” He also welcomed the announcement by Allies of more advanced heavy weapons announced during the January 20, 2023 meeting of the Contact Group on Ukraine’s Defense in the Ramstein format.

“I am honored to accept this award in recognition of NATO’s long-term support for Ukraine, but the real recognition should go to you,” the NATO Secretary General emphasized in conclusion.
