The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk outlined the main tasks of interparliamentary diplomacy that the Ukrainian Parliament will face in 2023.

According to him, one of the priority items on the list is the recognition of russia as a terrorist state or a state sponsor of terrorism by other parliaments.

«We are working to ensure that as many parliaments and international institutions as possible recognize this by relevant resolutions. russia is an absolute terrorist and this is the qualification it should receive, » Ruslan Stefanchuk stressed.

Also, according to him, the Parliament of Ukraine will work on the recognition of the actions of russia in Ukraine as genocide of the Ukrainian people by the parliaments of other countries. After all, the whole world sees that «russia consciously, systematically and consistently seeks to destroy Ukrainians as a nation».

The establishment of a special tribunal for the russian federation is another important direction for Ukraine in achieving justice in this unprovoked war.

«russia and its leadership must be brought to justice. The russian federation has committed all kinds of crimes in Ukraine, but the crime of aggression is the root cause of all other atrocities, » the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine stressed.

According to Ruslan Stefanchuk, an important position in the list of the main tasks for Ukraine in the international arena is devoted to the European integration and Euro-Atlantic directions, in particular, «obtaining an official assessment of the European Commission on the implementation of seven recommendations, which will allow to start negotiations on Ukraine’s full membership in the EU, » and strengthening cooperation with other states in support of Ukraine’s application for accelerated accession to NATO.

In addition, Ruslan Stefanchuk stressed that, through the mechanisms and opportunities of interparliamentary diplomacy, Ukraine will call on world parliaments to continue sanctions pressure on russia.

«The task of the Ukrainian Parliament, in particular, is to use all international platforms to continue and strengthen military, financial and humanitarian support for Ukraine. And – for the total isolation of Russia, » the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine emphasized.
