The Sixth Ukrainian Women’s Congress dedicated to the topic “Values in Time of War” started its work today in Kyiv. It brought together more than 50 speakers participating in 4 discussion panels and 4 special events.
The event was opened by the co-founder of the Congress, Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Olena Kondratiuk.
In her statement to the Congress participants, the Vice-Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament reminded that it is the 278th day of russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine, “against the values of the free world and the happy future that Ukraine has chosen. The war against freedom and equality, against democracy”.
At the beginning of her speech, she called to observe a minute of silence “in honor of the blessed memory of all our Defenders, all innocent children, women and men”.
According to her, it is thanks to our invincible people, their victory on the front line and work in the rear that it is possible to hold such events.
“We say that this war is about millions of women with children who saved the most precious thing – their children and our future generation. It is about gratitude for humanity, compassion and assistance to all those who volunteer and daily establish our peaceful life, and among them there are many responsible and dedicated women.
This is about 50,000 strong and brave Ukrainian women in the Armed Forces of Ukraine who are fighting for peace and security throughout Europe. This is about the assistance and solidarity of our international partners and women’s leadership of European countries, which unites efforts for the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine,” said Olena Kondratiuk.
She also stressed that the main task of all Ukrainians today is to be united and continue the struggle for the main values of our society and the civilized world.
“We must give ourselves a promise to ensure the punishment of war criminals. We must promise ourselves not to get tired of defending truth and justice, values of equality and respect. We must give ourselves the word to unite with democracies around the world – because only in this way, by joining forces, we can stop absolute evil,” emphasized the Vice Speaker Olena Kondratiuk.
