Oleksandr Kornienko: Joint efforts can intensify Ukrainian-Korean cooperation

In the framework of the working visit to the Republic of Korea, the First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Korniienko met with Korean scientists and statesmen and the President of the Korea Institute for Defence Analysis. 


“The Ukrainian side highly appreciates the opportunity to develop cooperation with such a reputable scientific institution as KIDA, the purpose of which is to promote the formation of a rational defence policy through systematic research and analysis,” the First Vice Speaker stressed during a conversation with the President of the Korea Institute for Defence Analyses Kim Yoon-Tae. 

In addition, Oleksandr Korniienko emphasized that “thanks to joint efforts, Ukrainian-Korean cooperation in the field of security and defence can be intensified, in particular, to strengthen the capabilities of the Defence Forces of Ukraine”. 


At the same time, during the meeting with Korean scientists and statesmen, representatives of the Ukrainian delegation analysed the issues of the post-war world, the new security system and the generation of the future.

“The war will continue until the victory of Ukraine. Any negotiations with the aggressor are possible only after the complete withdrawal of the russian occupation troops from the territory of our state,” said Oleksandr Korniienko. 


The First Deputy Chairman of the Parliament of Ukraine noted that it is important for Ukraine to take into account the Korean experience in restoring critical infrastructure and industrial facilities. That is why Oleksandr Kornienko invited the participants to consider the possibility of joining the process of post-war reconstruction of Ukraine. 

During the meetings the Korean side assured of its readiness and willingness to further assist Ukraine, promising to work out possible ways to support the Ukrainian side in the context of russian armed aggression. 


Finally, the First Vice-Speaker informed that the representatives of Ukraine and the Republic of Korea agreed to continue developing contacts with the involvement of the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Korea for more effective and efficient communication in the framework of the elaboration of assistance to Ukraine.

On November 24-26, the First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Korniienko headed the parliamentary delegation on a working visit to the Republic of Korea. 


The Ukrainian delegation also included MPs of Ukraine, members of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Committee on Foreign Policy and Interparliamentary Cooperation: the Chairman of the Committee Oleksandr Merezhko and the Member of the Committee Olha Rudenko.

The working visit was aimed at deepening interparliamentary cooperation in the Global South region, particularly, with the countries of Southeast Asia.
