On Saturday, within the scope of the working visit to Donetsk region, Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, took part in the ceremony dedicated to the 230th anniversary of the town of Horlivka.
V.Lytvyn sent his greetings to the residents of Horlivka on the occasion of the City Day and the Miner´s Day.
The Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine regretted that "people of work and heroic occupations coal-miners, chemical industry workers, metallurgists are not decently valued today", do not obtain an adequate financial, moral and social appraisal of their work.
He believes that Ukraine will have better future, provided the authorities take care of the development of industry and adequate financial provision of the workers.
V.Lytvyn reminded of the fact that Horlivka was considered as a potential center of Donbas in the 30´s of the previous century. He supposes that failure to realize this idea was a mistake. "However, I am certain that this town should become one of the economic centers of the country due to its natural, human, industrial and intellectual capacities, provide the State renders its assistance", - stated V.Lytvyn.
The Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine visited a salt-mine in the town of Soledar and attended the festive service at the underground church.
