The Bill (Reg. No.3144) introduces amendments to the effective Law that regulate the People´s Deputies´ attendance of the sittings of the Central Election Committee, scrutiny of the complaints by the Committee, early termination of authorities of its leaders.

People´s Deputy Anatoliy Matvienko expressed a number of remarks concerning the Bill. Thus, if the People´s Deputies are authorized to attend the sittings without a permission or invitation, it will contradict Clause 3 of the effective Law, i.e. the principle of Committee´s independence.

However, Zhanna Usenko-Chorna, representative of the Central Election Committee, assured the People´s Deputies that the Central Election Committee was a collegiate body, and the Bill would settle a number of issues concerning organization of the Committee.

The majority of the Committee members believe that adoption of the Bill will enhance efficiency of work of the Central Election Committee.
