Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, stresses that education, science and high technologies must become the priorities of the State policy.
V.Lytvyn made the above-mentioned statement at the regional August conference of the educators of Mykolaiv region.
"Education should become a priority of the State policy, as all the hardships we suffer in the socio-economic field stem from the mental crisis. If we do not set education, science and high technologies as a priority, Ukraine will not have any prospects", - he stressed.
The Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine strongly objects to "the elimination of the system of education that was considered as one of the best in the world under the slogans of reforms, innovations and optimization". He also objects to "the unreasonable innovations appertaining to the external independent testing".
The Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine stated that the country "is in debt before the educators in the part of attention and adequate financial provision". V.Lytvyn deems necessary to render the status of the public sector employees to the educators and promised to bring forward a relevant Bill before Parliament.
The Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine also commented upon the inadequate level of material-technical provision of schools in the rural area. He reminded of the fact that around 1000 schools have been closed in Ukraine since 2001. "You understand perfectly well that closure of a school results in the disappearance of a village, as it is the center of culture and spirituality", - he stated.
V.Lytvyn also presented the educators with the awards of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
