Head of the Secretariat of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Vyacheslav Shtuchny and Secretary General of the Croatian Parliament Davor Orlovic signed a Memorandum of Cooperation on October 26 in Zagreb (Croatia).
The document was signed for the purpose of cooperation and transfer of knowledge in European issues.
The memorandum envisages strengthening inter-parliamentary diplomacy, increasing the efficiency of parliaments, in particular, in the matter of harmonizing Ukrainian legislation with the acquis of the European Union and strengthening inter-institutional dialogue to achieve common interests at the European and international levels.
According to the document, the Secretariat of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and the Expert Service of the Croatian Parliament will interact within the framework of partnership by transferring knowledge, experience and best practices regarding the organization of the work of parliaments and parliamentary control in the field of European integration, adaptation and harmonization of national legislation with the legislation of the European Union; planning and implementation of measures to strengthen expert services of parliaments and projects to strengthen the role of parliaments, etc.
In addition, the Memorandum provides that the Parties will develop mutual cooperation in the exchange of information and the transfer of professional experience of the Croatian Parliament regarding the process of Ukraine's accession to the European Union; in popularizing the role of national parliaments in the process of European integration and joint implementation of relevant projects of international institutional cooperation of the European Union and technical assistance projects.
