Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk held a meeting with the Speaker of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi in Zagreb, on the grounds of the First Parliamentary Summit of the Crimean Platform.
Ruslan Stefanchuk expressed gratitude on behalf of the Parliament and the people of Ukraine to the friendly American people for the comprehensive and constant support of our country in the fight against the russian aggressor.
In particular, he emphasized that today, during russia's brutal and undeclared war, US assistance to Ukraine is undeniable. This is especially evident at the level of parliamentary cooperation, in the adoption by the US Congress of legislative acts and initiatives crucial for our struggle.
"I know that behind every adopted act was your great work and great personal leadership," Ruslan Stefanchuk addressed Mrs. Speaker, "But Ukraine is still waging this terrible war. It is leading successfully and it is very important to continue and support it to complete victory," the Chairman of the Ukrainian Parliament urged his American colleague.
In addition, the parties discussed the issue of providing further assistance to Ukraine, in particular military and financial, prospects for Ukraine's accession to NATO, support for the initiative to punish russia for crimes committed on Ukrainian territories, the participation of the United States in the restoration and reconstruction of Ukraine.
"Ukraine is the defender of the entire civilized world. Ukraine must win, otherwise this world will lose. And the USA fully supports the Ukrainian people in their struggle for freedom and their land. Ukraine is not alone. Allies and friends are nearby," Ruslan Stefanchuk emphasized during the meeting and invited Nancy Pelosi to visit Ukraine again to speak from the rostrum of the Ukrainian Parliament.
In her turn, the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the US Congress assured her Ukrainian colleague of further stable and reliable cooperation between the parliaments and peoples of our countries, for the sake of Ukraine's victory in the war with the russian federation.
"Today is a historic time for you, when you are not just saving your lives and your homes, you are saving democracy for yourself and for others," Nancy Pelosi said.
She emphasized that the latest massive russian missile attacks and attacks by Iranian kamikaze drones on peaceful Ukrainian cities and towns only strengthened the US's desire to support Ukraine, including by providing appropriate weapons.
"The whole world sees that Ukraine is on fire, sees how Ukrainians are suffering. Terrible things are happening, so we must stop this war together," Nancy Pelosi emphasized, and added that the United States is ready to stand shoulder to shoulder with Ukraine and continue to support it "until every meter of Ukrainian land is returned, including Crimea."
