Mykola Tomenko: TV Channel "Inter" became the Instrument for disseminating Russian Ideology in Ukraine

Mykola Tomenko, Vice-Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, is convinced that the events related to the visit of Patriarch Kiril to Ukraine testified of the fact that TV channel "Inter" became the instrument for disseminating Russian ideology in Ukraine.

Mykola Tomenko made the above-mentioned statement, staying with a working visit in Lviv region.

According to M.Tomenko, the visit of Patriarch Kiril was of more ideological, than religious or political nature. "Patriarch presented the ideology of a modern Russian state, which the Russian elite is willing to represent in the world and implement at the territory of former USSR", - stated the Vice-Chairman.

M.Tomenko stated that the ideas declared by Patriarch Kiril, especially in Donetsk, could not be considered as "proper in regard to Ukraine".

The Vice-Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine is worried about the fact that Ukrainian TV channel "Inter" acts as an instrument for advocating Russian ideology.

As far as the information component of the TV channel "Inter" and the balance of the news policy is concerned, M.Tomenko stated that "the channel follows a single rule two correct politicians, Viktor Yanukovych and Arseniy Yatseniuk, are recognized". "The channel usually does not criticize Viktor Yushchenko, President of Ukraine, and considers other politicians as unfriendly or enemy", - he stressed.

According to the Vice-Chairman, this fact will not be of primary importance for a number of politicians who run for presidency. Moreover, he is surprised by the fact that one of the owners of the channel, who works as the First Deputy Head of the Security Service of Ukraine and was appointed by the President, gives the priority to the information policy of another State, instead of providing for the information security of Ukraine.
