Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, met Kasym-Zhomart Tokayev, Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan Republic
Within the scope of the International Parliamentary Conference on the European Security and the sitting of the CIS IPA Council, Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, met Kasym-Zhomart Tokayev, Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan Republic.
During the meeting, the Parties stressed the important role of the parliaments in the provision of State stability.
K. Tokayev characterized Ukraine "as one of the significant European countries whose voice is taken into account at the European institutions", expressed his gratitude for the support of Kazakhstan in the OSCE and wished that "activity and authoritative position of our State assumed new force".
In his turn, V.Lytvyn stated that relations between Ukraine and Kazakhstan were based on mutual understanding and support. He also upheld the initiative of Kazakhstan concerning security and innovative way of overcoming the recessionary situation.
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine considers the social and political situation in Ukraine to be rather complicated. He stated that "only the Parliament can avert the chaos in the country". "The Parliament stands for stability and reliability, - he stated. Despite all the wishes to destruct it and block its work during the presidential elections".
V.Lytvyn informed the attendants about the letter forwarded to the President of Ukraine, the Prime Minister and the Heads of the Factions with a request to hold an extraordinary meeting of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Tuesday to appraise the situation in the country.
He deems necessary to reload the authorities, i.e. to hold simultaneous presidential and parliamentary elections. This can be done in the interests of the country, a relevant political resolution being adopted.
V.Lytvyn called for the compromise in the political surrounding. "Conflicts result in the loss of prospects".
