The third day of the Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union: results of the meetings of the Ukrainian delegation header by Oleksandr Korniienko

The issue of Ukraine's protection of its territorial integrity, the world food crisis, Ukraine's support at the United Nations General Assembly sites, exchange of students and the latest technologies are the main topics of the third day of the Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, in which the Ukrainian parliamentary delegation headed by the First Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Korniyenko is taking part.

 First of all, the Ukrainian delegates held a working meeting with their colleagues from Zambia.  The First Deputy Speaker expressed gratitude to the Government of Zambia for supporting Ukraine, especially for voting "in favor" of the UN General Assembly "Aggression against Ukraine" (03/02/2022) and "Humanitarian Consequences of Aggression against Ukraine" (03/24/2022) resolutions.  The issue of trade between the countries was also raised separately, "It is not large yet, but this means that there is room for growth."  As the First Deputy Speaker noted, the food crisis affects the whole world, but Ukraine plans to continue organizing food corridors through cooperation with Turkey.  He also informed about the plans of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to make a parliamentary visit to Zambia this year.

 During the working meeting with the delegation of Great Britain, the Ukrainian delegates expressed their gratitude for all the support given to Ukrainians in this brutal war of russia against Ukraine.  "Especially for the financial and military assistance that helps to defend the territorial integrity of Ukraine and bring victory closer together," noted Oleksandr Korniienko.

 


"Ukraine is interested in deepening bilateral relations with Georgia and intensifying interparliamentary cooperation," the First Deputy Speaker said during the meeting with the Georgian delegation, adding that interaction between the permanent delegations of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and the Parliament of Georgia in interparliamentary assemblies of international and regional organizations remains important for the both sides. "The Georgian people have also suffered from russia's aggression, so they understand our demands to the world to recognize this country as a terrorist state and to hold it fully accountable," noted the First Deputy Speaker.
 
Also, on the third day of the working visit to Africa, a meeting was held with the Malawi delegation.  "Thank you for your support at all the UN votes and other international platforms," ??said Oleksandr Korniienko, because Malawi supported all the main resolutions of the 11th special session of the UN General Assembly, namely: "Aggression against Ukraine" dated March 2, 2022. "Humanitarian Consequences of Aggression against Ukraine" dated March 24, 2022 and "Deprivation of Russia's rights to Membership in the UNHRC" dated April 7, 2022.  "We are working as hard as possible to maintain trade between our countries, companies work 24/7," emphasized the First Deputy Speaker.  At the same time, he noted that the President of Ukraine had already held a working conversation with the President of Malawi, "This should continue both at this level and at the level of the leadership of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine."  "Ukraine will ensure that a just order reigns in the world," Oleksandr Korniienko summed up.
 

Finally, at all working meetings, the First Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Oleksandr Korniienko, emphasized the importance of the participation of European and world leaders in the First Parliamentary Summit of the Crimea Platform, which will take place on October 25 in Zagreb, Croatia, "The war began in 2014 with Crimea - we hope  it will end in Crimea."

 For reference.  On October 10 - 14, the delegation of the Parliament of Ukraine headed by the First Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Korniienko wad on a working visit to Africa.  The parliamentary delegation included MPs of Ukraine: Olga Rudenko, Artur Gerasymov, Alyona Shkrum, Zhan Beleniuk, Lesya Vasylenko and Oleksiy Zhmerenetskyi.
