Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, does not preclude that the resolutions adopted at the extraordinary session on 24 July may be challenged at the Constitutional Court. The Head of the Parliament made the above-mentioned statement at the briefing.

V.Lytvyn reminded of the fact that at the today´s extraordinary session, The Verkhovna Rada scrutinized not only the matters brought forward by the initiators of the session the Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc and those published in the parliamentary newspaper "Holos Ukrainy". "I do not preclude that the said resolutions may be challenged, as The Verkhovna Rada is convened to work at the extraordinary session upon the certain matters determined by the initiators of the session", - he stated. Therefore, according to V.Lytvyn, certain politicians may cast doubt on the legitimacy of the adopted resolutions.

The Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine stated that The Verkhovna Rada managed to unblock its work in the result of a compromise, having violated the Fundamental Law.

V.Lytvyn believes that there was no utter necessity to convene the extraordinary session. The leader of the Parliament reminded of the fact that convocation of the parliament should be grounded by extraordinary events that required urgent resolutions.

At the Friday´s extraordinary session, The Verkhovna Rada adopted the Law on Amendments to certain Legislative Acts of Ukraine regarding Peculiarities of Financial Restructuring of Banks, on Amendments to certain Laws of Ukraine regarding Authorities of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine, Peculiarities of Constitutional Proceedings and Prevention of Abuse of the Right for a Constitutional Appeal and on Amendments to certain Legislative Acts concerning Elections of the President of Ukraine.
