"Canada is a leader in establishing precedents. It was the Parliament of this country that was the first to legislate the possibility of using seized russian assets for the benefit of Ukraine," the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine emphasized during a meeting with Canada's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Ukraine, Larisa Galadza.
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine also thanked the Parliament of Canada for its leadership: "The decision related to the recognition of the genocide of the Ukrainian people is very important. Canada became one of the first countries to make such a decision — we thank you for responding to the call of the Parliament of Ukraine."
The Speaker of the Parliament of Ukraine expressed hope that Canada will become an example for other countries. "Military aid and support of the sanctions regime are very important for us. This is what I am calling for," he added.
"It is impossible to win a war if it is sponsored. Therefore, sanctions should be clear and unambiguous. We have no right to leave the enemy the opportunity to circumvent the bans," stressed Ruslan Stefanchuk, calling for continued military support for Ukraine.
At the same time, he noted that any exception to the sanctions allows the aggressor to feel more confident and understand that he can turn the situation in his favor: "And we know that this is not the case, we know that when the world is united, when the world is with Ukraine, the russian federation has no chance."
In addition, Ruslan Stefanchuk expressed hope that further cooperation between the parliaments of Ukraine and Canada will continue to develop.
"Our friendship groups should cooperate more actively. We need to pay attention to the definition of many priorities related to the issue of joint victory, reconstruction of Ukraine, our progress to the European Union, cooperation within the framework of the "Big Seven" and "Big Twenty". This remains a priority for Ukraine, and the parliaments can have their powerful say," said the Speaker of the Parliament of Ukraine.
"We will continue to help Ukraine with equipment, machinery and weapons. We are working for our joint victory," emphasized Larisa Galadza, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Canada to Ukraine.
"Canada is doing a lot. And it is important not to lose momentum. We have no time to delay. The world has already seen that the availability of the latest weapons allows Ukraine to turn the tide of this war," said the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk at the end.
