Mykola Tomenko: Ukraine is my Motherland
Mykola Tomenko, Vice-Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, delivered a speech at the grand meeting dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the party "All-Ukrainian Association "Batkivshchyna". He stressed that one should change personally in order to change Ukraine.
"The outcome of the presidential elections, and the situation in Ukraine depend on the way we change the party and the team", - stated M.Tomenko.
He underscored that only such actions would cause positive changes not only in the party, but also in the country. "In some period we forgot that a real party stands for the ideas, values and strategy. The future of "Batkivshchyna" is the future of a European and at the same time Ukrainian party", - stated M.Tomenko.
He explained that "a European party is a party that provides for competition and discussion, as well as discipline and responsibility; a party that attracts new professional activists, and a party that permanently looks for ideas, proposals and projects".
"A Ukrainian party, - stated M.Tomenko, - is a party based on the grounds of modern patriotism, sovereignty and unity of the Ukrainian State and protection of national interests".
The Vice-Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine stressed that the slogan "Ukraine is my Motherland" was the ground for the above-mentioned approach.
The Vice-Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine declared his attitude to the State and stated: "At present, we are taught to think about Ukraine, however, we must work for the sake of Ukraine, live with its problems in our minds. We must work to the settle the present-day and future problems. It is an absurd to struggle with the past. We must change the present-day pseudo-patriotic State ideology".
Summing up, M.Tomenko appealed: "We must move forward steadily and with confidence, taking into consideration heroic and successful Ukrainian tradition. Then we will win!"
