Mykola Tomenko: Creative Projects aimed at Popularization of Ukrainian Culture are Necessary
Today, Mykola Tomenko, Vice-Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, stays with a working visit in Volyn region.
At the press conference in the city of Lutsk, Mykola Tomenko intends to present the audio CD "Classical Ukrainian Literature. Live Voices", which is a joint project of the Fund "Spravedlyva Krayina" and the National Radio Broadcasting Company of Ukraine.
Before the presentation, Mykola Tomenko stated that he would exert every effort to supply every school of Ukraine with such disks before the beginning of a new academic year. "Such a disk renders a possibility to make teaching of Ukrainian language and literature more emotional and meaningful, to present prominent Ukrainian poets in a new way", - he stated.
He also stressed that the project was implemented without attraction of public funds, only at the expense of the Fund.
The Vice-Chairman also stated: "The paradox of the present-day situation is in the fact the secret Valuyev circular letter concerning prohibition of publishing of books and teaching Ukrainian language at school was adopted 146 years ago, however, at present our own country lacks the systemic and efficient program of popularization of Ukrainian culture, especially, Ukrainian language and literature".
"It is necessary to use methods to encourage people who talk Russian and have poor knowledge of Ukrainian to study the language and become interested in the Ukrainian culture on the whole", - stated M.Tomenko.
