The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted in the first reading the draft law "On copyright and related rights."

"In the first reading, we adopted changes designed to help all representatives of creative industries: performers and authors of works, artists, poets — all those who, by virtue of their talent, give society invaluable works." The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk said.

As the initiator of the bill, I want copyright to be protected. Together with people's deputies and the scientific community, we developed a number of regulations to strengthen the fight against Internet piracy, increase the protection of the rights of authors and performers, and most importantly, adapt our legislation to EU legislation.

Why is this important?  Because intellectual property is something that the EU pays special attention to. And this is the part of our legislation that needs maximum adaptation.
