During a joint briefing with the President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, Margareta Cederfelt, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Ruslan Stefanchuk, called on the OSCE PA to dedicate the final declaration in July to the topic of Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine.
"It is also necessary to achieve a just decision of the International Criminal Court and other institutions to convict russia for its crimes in Ukraine," said Ruslan Stefanchuk.
He thanked the OSCE PA for appointing a Special Rapporteur on War Crimes in Ukraine and asked that every effort be made to ensure that as many parliaments as possible recognize the genocide of the Ukrainian people.
For her part, the President of the OSCE PA, Margareta Cederfelt, informed that having visited Bucha and Irpin, she was able to see with her own eyes the horrible crimes committed by russia.
"The OSCE PA has been standing side by side with Ukraine since 2014 when the illegal annexation of Crimea took place. The annual session will begin next week to discuss the main issue on the agenda - russia's war against Ukraine. An additional issue was also introduced – war crimes committed in Ukraine. We hope that resolutions will be issued on all these issues," the OSCE PA President stressed.
According to her, the appointment of the Special Rapporteur on War Crimes in Ukraine is a testament to the OSCE PA's determination to bring to justice all those responsible for the crimes committed, not to leave them unpunished, and to show solidarity with Ukraine.
Margareta Cederfelt announced that she had appointed a Special Representative for Parliamentary Diplomacy in the OSCE PA.
"Our message that we want to send to the world is that we are together with Ukraine, that we support, and that we are ready to promote peace and security in every possible way," the OSCE PA President concluded.
