Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Ruslan Stefanchuk, took part  in a special sitting of the German Bundestag Committee on Foreign Affairs and the German Bundestag Committee on European Affairs with the participation of the President of the German Bundestag Barbel Bas.

Ukraine is Europe. It is for this idea that Ukraine is fighting today. And it is for her sake that we must win together, – emphasized the Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Ruslan Stefanchuk, during a special sitting of the German Bundestag Committee on Foreign Affairs and the German Bundestag Committee on European Affairs with the participation of the President of the German Bundestag Barbel Bas.

“vladimir putin was most afraid of Ukraine's European integration. This war will continue as long as Putin believes that Ukraine has no European future. Without Ukraine, his idea – the USSR 2.0 – is worthless. And this idea is the only thing he has and the only thing he has managed to do during his insignificant life. putin has failed to buy or seduce our country. That's why he decided to wipe us off the face of the Earth," Ruslan Stefanchuk said.

According to Stefanchuk, Ukraine's accession to the EU should be a matter of honor for Germany and the whole continent.  After all, Ukraine and Europe are critically in need of each other. This is the restoration of historical justice and a win-win agreement.

"After the war, Ukraine will need European experience building the rule of law and developing a market economy. Europe will continue to need change. Both metaphysically and practically – there is a need for our "green" hydrogen, our digitalization experience, and our capable and experienced army. Ukraine can and should become the new generation of Europe. Our rapprochement is giving Europe new meanings,” Ruslan Stefanchuk stressed.

The Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada appealed to the members of the Bundestag to support the granting of Ukraine the status of a candidate country for EU membership by adopting a relevant resolution of the Bundestag.

"This resolution will consolidate the political will of the German people, whose support is on our side. This resolution serves as a guide for the decision of the federal government and the federal chancellor in the spirit of German democracy. After all, the time has come for this decision. On February 24, russia insidiously attacked Ukraine and assassinated Europe. On June 24, Europe can give a decent answer and change the course of history in its favor," said Ruslan Stefanchuk.
