Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine met with the Vice President of the German Bundestag Catherine Goring-Eckardt and the co-chairs of the Alliance 90 / Greens – OmidNouripour and Ricarda Lang.

The Chairman of the Ukrainian Parliament stressed that Ukraine would be grateful if the Bundestag would consider a resolution to support Ukraine's European aspirations and grant it EU candidate status.

In addition, Ruslan Stefanchuk noted that Ukrainians today have demonstrated not only their desire to become part of a united Europe, but they can also offer Europe a solution to food security, protection of its Eastern Front, new economic initiatives and digitalization.

"Military aid is an important issue for us, so we are grateful for the many decisions made primarily by the Bundestag and the federal government to help Ukraine. The only thing I would like to ask is that these historic decisions that are made be implemented as soon as possible," Ruslan Stefanchuk stressed.

He also noted that victory in this war is a matter not only of military tactics, but also of economic pressure, sanctions against the russian federation, embargoes, disconnection from SWIFT and a complete blockade of all trade.

For her part, Vice President of the Bundestag Catherine Goring-Eckardt stressed that the process of rebuilding Ukraine should begin now. Co-chair of the Union 90 / The Greens party, Ricarda Lang, added that work was under way to abandon russian energy.

"If we cut ties, we will never return to that situation. We have partially abandoned coal… We are working to reduce the consumption of russian gas," said Ricarda Lang.

For his part, Co-chair of the Union 90 / The Greens party Omid Nouripour noted that Ukraine should receive more and faster weapons.
