Deputy Chairwoman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Olena Kondratiuk, on the meeting with Emma Aparici, Director of the Foreign Policy Department of the Spanish Government thanked the Spanish Government for supporting European aspirations and comprehensive assistance to Ukraine during the large-scale russian invasion.
We appreciate Spain's participation in developing and supporting all six packages of EU sanctions against russia. We count on the same principled support for the decision to grant Ukraine the status of an EU candidate country in June.
During our conversation, Emma Aparici assured us that Spain supports Ukraine's aspirations to become a full member of the EU.
"Giving Ukraine the status of a candidate for EU membership will be an act of justice for Ukraine and Ukrainians. The moral weight of giving Ukraine candidate status is invaluable," said Emma Aparici.
The Spanish government is also convinced that Ukraine's candidacy is one of the critical factors that could break the war chain.
I emphasized that Ukraine is acting responsibly both for obtaining the status of a candidate country and for implementing all the necessary reforms to bring our membership in the EU closer. Now all state institutions of Ukraine are united around this goal. We are ready to work hard to implement the European choice of Ukraine, which our people are defending with weapons in their hands.
