Mykola Tomenko: Parliament should suggest New Approaches to the Relations between Ukraine and Romania

Today, opening the common sitting of the Verkhovna Rada: "On Modern Ukrainian Romanian Relations", the vice-Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Mykola Tomenko emphasized on the necessity of the importance of the building of good neighbour relations between two countries.

"The contiguous border (more than 600 km), membership of Romania in EU, potential of trade-economic cooperation and presence in both countries the great national minorities on the one hand and, on the other hand s great number of unsolved issues concerning the bilateral relations and natural contest for the political and economic influence in the region and drives our relations to one of the leading places in our foreign policy", - M. Tomenko declared.

During his speech, Vice-Chairman of the Ukrainian Parliament mentioned that first of all one should point the attention on the important issues such as "what behaviour Ukraine should possess in situation when there are obvious actions of the official Bucharest and leading political powers of the neighbouring country".

"Efficient solving of these issues needs new approaches in development of bilateral relations between Ukraine and Romania and coordinated actions of all the power branches in Ukraine",- the Vice-Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine declared.
