V.Lytvyn deems necessary to establish more systematic relations between Ukraine and the Republic of Belarus, especially at the level of parliaments. He made the above-mentioned statement at the meeting with Vladimir Andreichenko, Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus, held within the scope of the official visit to the Republic of Belarus on 29 June 2009.
"The Inter-Parliamentary Ukrainian-Belarusian Commission should convene not once in two years, but once in the quarter at least", - stated the Head of the Ukrainian Parliament.
The Parties discussed a number of issues concerning extension of trade-economic relations, cooperation in the field of power engineering, transfrontier cooperation and use of transit capabilities of both countries.
The Parties also dwelled upon the mutual support of activity of Ukraine and the Republic of Belarus at the international parliamentary institutions, such as the CIS IPA, CoEPA, OSCE PA.
The participants of the meeting also discussed elimination of consequences of Chornobyl disaster and restoration of the devastated territories.
Vladimir Andreichenko dwelled upon the simplification and acceleration of crossing of the Ukrainian-Belarusian border by the citizens of both countries. He deems necessary to settle the issue immediately, the recreational season having already started.
In his turn, the Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine assured the interlocutor that he would raise the issue before the Government of Ukraine.
"We have not completely understood, how interesting and useful we can be for each other. The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine is willing to extend our relations", - he underscored.
