Mykola Tomenko: Love for Ukraine gained a Victory over "Beer Patriotism"
Today, during the briefing in the Parliament the Vice-Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Mykola Tomenko expressed convincement that the President of Ukraine would urgently sign the Law "On the State Budget of Ukraine for the Year 2009", adopted yesterday by the Verkhovna Rada which envisages the implementation of the only approach to the taxation of spirits in particular the increase if the rate of excise duty on beer.
Giving answers to the possibility of the suggested law signing by the President of Ukraine, M. Tomenko declared that there no obstacles for it as the majority of the President´s motions were taken into the consideration during the elaboration of this law. In particular it concerns the subventions on completion of the building of the children hospital in Cherkasy in year 2009 and extra income to the budget that would be directed in the provision of the twenty-four-hour water supplement in Lviv, completion of the restoration works in "House-Museum of T. G. Shevchenko" in Kaniv.
In particular despite the fact that the bill was upheld by the absolute majority of the Deputies 343, "it is curious that the biggest quantity of the adversaries of the Ukrainian culture and health protection were found in the most patriotic faction, "Our Ukraine-Self Defence", even taken into the consideration the President´s motions. Probably it could be explained by the fact that the majority of this faction representatives are constantly trying to convince that there are no beer alcoholism in Ukraine", - he declared.
